Who is Julian:

Julian has joined LEKKER as our mechanic in Amsterdam for over a year now. He is from Romania, 24 years old, and has been living in the Netherlands since 2023. His favorite hobbies are cooking, playing video games, and of course, cycling. 

His favorite moment with LEKKER so far was when he took his eBike from Amsterdam to Zandvoort without breaking a sweat, and enjoying the beautiful Dutch scenery along the way.

What's it like working at LEKKER as a mechanic:

 

On a regular day, Julian services multiple bikes, doing everything from swapping brake pads, bleeding brakes to soldering different cables. "It’s all about keeping things running smoothly". The most common task? Just the regular check-up stuff. It’s like taking your car in for an oil change but for your bike, ensuring it's still working at its maximum potential. 

Q&A: 

Q: What is some advice you would give for new customers:

A: Keeping your bike clean. Think of it as bike hygiene. I always keep a few dedicated rags for cleaning my bike. 

Q: How do I make sure I clean my bike properly?

A: Try to keep it as simple and as frequent as possible. Buy some "bike cleaner" spray and use a rag to wipe down all of the surfaces of the bike. It also helps to have one of those plastic scrubbing brushes, which will help you clean the dirt and debris that gets stuck on the corners of the bike. If you commute everyday, I recommend cleaning your bike 2 or 3 times per week, ensuring that the dirt won't build up. 

Q: How frequently should a person bring their bike to the workshop for a revision? 

A: I recommend servicing your ride every 1500 km to keep it running happily. Also, wiping down your bike isn’t just about looks, it’s about longevity, a clean bike is a happy bike.

Q: Your LEKKER bike of choice? 

A: Any from the Amsterdam range, it's an eBike that features an attacking seating position, which feels like the traditional cycling experience, but better. 

Q: Are there any accessories you think can elevate the LEKKER experience for new customers?

A: It depends on the experience the person has when riding around. If it's someone who knows they will depend on Google Maps, or some sort of navigation service, I recommend the phone holder. Or, if you know you will use the bike to buy your groceries, the Front Basket is another natural choice.
