Peace of mind with comprehensive theft insurance

At LEKKER Bikes we sell Theft Insurance Package with roadside assistance provided by Qover. Optionally, through Qover you can upgrade to damage insurance as well.

In the unfortunate case that your eBike gets stolen, Qover will make sure to reimburse you for its value, which allows you to place a new order through our webshop.

If your bike gets stolen within the first 3 years, Qover will fully reimburse you for your purchase as no depreciation is applied to the compensation calculation during the first 36 months.

In the unfortunate case that your eBikes breaks down the roadside assistance included in the insurance package will insure you get picked up and dropped off at the nearest bike shop.

Under what conditions is my bike insured?

Your bike must be secured by the frame to a fixed structure using an approved lock: ABUS (Security level 10 or higher). From our selection of locks, the Abus Chain Lock meets this criteria, as well as the combination of our ABUS ring lock and ABUS plug-in chain.

In case of theft, ensure to report this to the police within 24 hours and submit the police report to Qover within 8 days of discovery. Remember to save your original invoice.

The theft coverage is valid across the European Union.

Frequently Asked Questions

- As soon as your bike is delivered your insurance will be activated. You will then receive a confirmation email with your policy schedule, general conditions and the cancellation form.

In case of theft:

- Contact Qover here to report a claim.
- You will receive compensation by bank transfer corresponding to the total insured value minus any excess or depreciation.
- You can then place an order for a new LEKKER Bike through our webshop.

- An insurance policy intended for LEKKER Bikes only.

- The insurance is intended for people aged 18 and over who are officially resident in The Netherlands and Germany

- Your bike is intended for private use, not for commercial use (e.g. as a courier, deliveries, etc.).

- Qover will cover your bike all year round for up to a maximum of 5 years.

- You pay the premium annually.

- Your bike can be covered for a maximum of 5 consecutive years as from the first sale.

- Your contract has a duration of one year and is tacitly renewed every year.

- After five years of insurance (or when your bike reaches 6 years old), we will terminate the contract. This way, you never pay too long and it suits your needs.

- If your bike is stolen, Qover will reimburse you after deducting any excess and depreciation.

- Qover will also reimburse you for damage if it is the result of an attempted theft.

- No depreciation is applied to the compensation calculation during the first 36 months (3 years) of the bike. As from the 37th month, a depreciation is applied. The minimum amount of compensation is set at 50% of the insured value as shown in the table of benefit in the Terms and Conditions and Insurance Product Information Document.

In the unfortunate case that your eBikes breaks down the provided roadside assistance from Qover will insure you get picked up and dropped off at the nearest bike shop.

Please contact LEKKER Customer Support to pre-approve any repair that will be covered under the warranty of your eBike.

Yes, the insurance provided by Qover insures the theft of the battery of the insured electric bike, if it is stolen separately (i.e. if the bike itself is not stolen) when the battery is firmly attached to the bike or when the theft of the battery occurs with aggression or violence on the insured. A depreciation of 1.5% per month up to a maximum of 75% of the purchase value is applied. Qover calculates the depreciation from the purchase date of the battery.

Yes, your accessories are insured up to a total value of €100. You can also insure the fixed accessories by adding their value inside the insured value.

- If the theft of the bike occurs when the bike is not locked by the frame.

- If the bike was in a place accessible to the public and was not secured to a fixed point by the frame with an agreed lock. ABUS Security Level 10 or higher. Out of the LEKKER Bikes assortment the ABUS Chain Lock meets this criteria solely.

- If the bike was in a locked common room and was not secured to a fixed point by the frame with a Security Level 10 or higher lock.

- The wheels or tires if they are stolen separately from the bike.

- If you cause damage to a third party while riding your bike, the insurance does not cover your liability.

- Purely aesthetic damage (e.g. scratches or dents).

- Damage resulting from a breach of trust or fraud.

- Portable bike related accessories (e.g. bike computers and/or navigation equipment), which are easily removable without using screwdrivers or other regular tools, are excluded from coverage in case of theft.
- You will not be covered if you make technical modifications to the bike.

- Theft cover is valid in the countries of the European Union, Great Britain, the Principalities of Andorra and Monaco, the Vatican, Iceland, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino and Switzerland.

- In the event of theft, you must report it to the police or judicial authorities within 24 hours.

- You must submit a copy of the police report to Qover at the time of the loss.

- You must notify the claim as soon as possible after the incident and within 8 days of becoming aware of it.

- You must keep the original invoice for your bike and for your battery.

- You must attach your bike by the frame to a fixed point (e.g. bike rack, post) by using an agreed lock, that is either ABUS (security 10 or more), [AXA Hiplok, Kryptonite, Linka (with chain), Master Lock, texlock, Trelock] and it is a VdS approved lock of class A+ or B+, or FUB (category 2 wheels or higher) approved, or approved by Sold Secure Silver (or Gold) or by approved ART category 2 (or higher), or Onguard locks and SRE Locks.

- You can cancel the insurance contract within 14 calendar days of taking out the contract or receiving it.

- You can cancel your insurance at each annual expiry date. To do so, you must inform Qover at least 2 months before the expiry date of your contract, by registered letter or by handing in the cancellation letter against receipt.

- You can cancel the insurance if we change the price or the general conditions.

- You can terminate the insurance contract after it has been tacitly renewed on the main expiry date. The insurance contract will then end 1 day after notification.

If your activation period has lapsed, the process is as follows:

  1. Contract Activation: When we create the contract, it is up to the customer to activate it. The customer will receive a reminder via email every month.
  2. Contract Cancellation: If the contract is not activated within 1 year, it will be canceled.
  3. Completion of Information: If the customer activates the contract, they have 14 days to complete any missing information.

Yes, damage assistance will be provided by Qover. LEKKER Bikes only sells the theft insurance incl. roadside assistance package. If you wish to upgrade you can easily do this through Qover directly.

3. Theft Coverage:

Nationale-Nederlanden Schadeverzekering Maatschappij N.V. incorporated under Dutch law, Registered office: Prinses Beatrixlaan 35, 2595 AK 'S-Gravenhage, The Netherlands - Trade Register number 27023707, under supervision of the Nederlandsche Bank.


4. Assistance Coverage:

Assistance services are provided by Europ Assistance N.V, governed by the French Insurance Code, with its registered office at 1, promenade de la Bonnette, 92230 Gennevilliers, France. This entity operates through its Irish branch, EUROP ASSISTANCE SA IRISH BRANCH, located at 4-8 Eden Quay, Dublin 1, Ireland, and is supervised by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR) in France.


5. Insurance Type and Duration:

Bike insurance and assistance are non-life insurance products categorized under Branch 3 and Branch 18 respectively. The contract is valid for one year and may be tacitly renewed up to four times for consecutive one-year periods.


6. Legal Governance:

This insurance contract is subject to Dutch law.
