This week, introducing: Bikes routes in Copenhagen!
Copenhagen is on the path to becoming the first carbon-neutral city by 2025. With bicycling as their primary means of transport, a lot of people consider Copenhagen to be the biking capital of the world! This eco-friendly city has five times more bikes than cars, and more than 12,000km of bike paths – no wonder why is any bike rider’s dream destination. There are so many bike routes in Copenhagen that it can be a little overwhelming to know where to start – we know! That’s why we’ve done the hard part and narrowed it down to 4 bike paths that we recommend as a good starting point.
Tour de France route
This route is for any (but not limited) road bicycle racing fans: explore the route where the world’s best bike riders ride on and see the amazing sights that this path takes you on. Cruise on the busiest bike street in the world – Dronning Louises Bro, pass the magnificent Gefion Fountain where the Norse Goddess Gefjun stands and then finish at the city hall square. This path will be sure to inspire you to ride further and faster just like if you’re on the Tour de France itself!
Amager Beach Park
Imagine cruising along the beach on a hot summer day with the waves crashing beside you, what else would you want other than to do that? Amager Beach Park is the perfect place in Copenhagen for you beach lovers to hang out and cruise around. The promenade is approximately 3km along the beachfront making it the perfect route to have a relaxing ride with the whole family. The best part? If you get too hot and sweaty from riding, you can always conveniently jump into the ocean for a quick dip or swim.
Frederiksberg Garden
If you’re looking for a peaceful place away from the busy streets filled with cars and traffic,
you should definitely visit Frederiksberg Garden. It is one of the largest parks in Copenhagen, with huge green areas, making it a great place for picnics in the summertime. This romantic garden is never short of people strolling, relaxing on the grass and cycling. Also, don’t forget to explore the 17th Century Frederiksberg Palace too!
Children’s Traffic playground
The love for cycling begins at a young age and the people of Copenhagen make no exception to this. They have a dedicated playground for the tiny tots to run rampant all day! The Children’s Traffic Playground is a playground that simulates realistic traffic conditions (minus the cars of course). There are traffic lights, road signs, petrol stations, bike paths and even road makers! This is a delightful little simulation where the kids would have an absolute blast going around all day!
Overall, there is definitely no shortage of bike paths in Copenhagen, whether that be exploring the city through the Tour de France route or just cruising around Frederiksberg Garden. You can undoubtedly make your own adventure on your two-wheeler here.
