LEKKER x Tamara

Did you know that women make up less than 20 percent of U.S. tech jobs, even though they make up more than half of the U.S. workforce? Tamara Klink is totally aware of this and her dream is to change that number. She is a woman paving the way in a mainly male-dominated industry of I.T. You’d ask, how is she doing that? Well, she empowers women (without excluding men) with interest in information technology, in hopes of making everyone feel more inclusive.

She is a full-time Solution Engineer at Salesforce during the day – at night and on the weekends she continues to become a beacon of light for those who need her help through her business called FIIT – “Female In Information Technology”. Her mission is to “support and empower females to live a balanced and purposeful life through a career in information technology”. Tamara’s objective is to provide a balanced view of the opportunities and challenges for women in tech, and to have contributions from all genders, ages and cultures.

Through FIIT, Tamara delivers content that tackles a wide range of informative topics including self-help and self-care, both for the mind and the body. If you don’t like to read, Tamara also has you covered with her podcast “The Females in Tech Show”, where she creates discussions through subjects such as the transition from university to the workforce, the gender pay gap, importance of a morning routine for women in tech and the list goes on!

When she’s not busy working away, she loves to take her LEKKER out along the beach with her partner and his kid where they get up to silly antics. Her partner on his skateboard and his son on the scooter would sometimes hitch a ride on the back of her bike, making her have to pedal extra hard, which always ends up in laughter as they ride down the coastline!

Tamara was first introduced to LEKKER by her mum, who is a proud Dutch woman. Now it has become a handy tool helping her get to work. Contrary to the 40min walk she took before, the trip now shortens to just 10mins ride! It’s also been a way to relive some of her fondest memories when she was in the Netherlands – whilst living in Sydney, whenever Tamara’s mum would come and visit her, they would ride all the way to Manly the good’ol dutch way, with one person riding and the other sitting at the back!

She loves her bike, and it has seamlessly integrated itself into her life. “I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid cruiser to ride short distances (5-10km one way). I’ve had my bike for 4 years and haven’t had any issues with it.”
